The California-based HP wants to increase manufacturing in India, the third-largest economy in Asia, not only in terms of volume but also to generate innovative products that will help boost domestic output.
The Senior Director (Personal Systems), HP India, Mr. Vickram Bedi mentioned that the company have been manufacturing in India for a long time. They have augmented and invested extra to increase the capacity of their products being produced in the country.
HP manufactures laptop models such as HP EliteBooks, HP ProBooks, HP G8 series notebooks, keyboards, and mouses in India.
A US$ 2.07 billion (Rs. 17,000 crore) Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for the IT hardware industry was recently authorised by the Indian government. For the manufacturing of products like laptops, tablets, all-in-one personal computers (PCs), servers, and ultra-small form factor gadgets, New Delhi would offer incentives to qualified producers. According to Mr. Vickram Bedi, HP is prepared to make significant investments.
He also announced that the company would be expanding its collection of Omen Playgrounds. HP established OMEN Playground, a gaming community for PC gamers that offers a variety of the company's products. Mr. Vickram Bedi also mentioned that from 12 playgrounds spread across the nation and will eventually increase to 40.
