IAF receives over 94,000 applications under Agnipath scheme in four days

Within four days of the registration process, the Indian Air Force (IAF) had received 94,281 applications under the Agnipath recruitment scheme. According to Mr. Bharat Bhushan Babu, a spokesperson for the Defence Ministry 94,281 Agniveer Vayu aspirants had registered as of June 27, 2022 (10:30 am). The deadline for registration is July 5. The government stated that under the scheme, youths between the ages of 17 and 21 would be inducted for a four-year tenure, with 25% of them subsequently inducted for regular service.
On June 16, the government raised the upper age limit for recruitment under the scheme to 23 years from 21 years for the year 2022, and subsequently announced a slew of appeasement measures, including a preference for Agniveers in central paramilitary forces and defence public sector undertakings upon retirement.
