IBM announced the opening of a cyber-security centre in Bengaluru, India, to address the concerns of its clients in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region and help businesses plan for and manage the growing danger of cyberattacks to organisations. The security hub will be one of only two in the world, with the other being in the US. The new facility will serve as a strategic hub for IBM's cybersecurity activities in the region, including IBM Managed Security Services, access to IBM's team of incident response experts, IBM Consulting, IBM Research, IBM India Software Labs, and IBM Garage.

According to the most recent IBM global data, Asia is the most often targeted region for cyberattacks, accounting for 26% of all attacks in 2021. The data shows a major regional shift from the previous decade of the study, when North America and Europe were the most-targeted regions. This trend indicates that Asian businesses, particularly those in financial services and manufacturing, are more concerned about security threats.

The new IBM Security Command Center will be used to educate cybersecurity response strategies through extremely realistic, simulated cyberattacks, with the goal of preparing everyone from the C-suite to technical personnel. The investment also includes a new Security Operation Centre (SOC), which will be part of IBM's existing global SOC network, and will provide security response services to clients throughout the world 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Atlanta (US), Australia, Costa Rica, Japan, Poland, and Saudi Arabia are now part of IBM's worldwide SOC network. IBM's new security operations centre (SOC) will have 600 security response operators and will deliver managed security services to clients all around the world.
