IHG Hotels & Resorts is unrolling a far-reaching vision of growth playing out in India, consisting of more than 400 hotels either opened or in the development pipeline within five years, which will take their current base here far beyond three times what they see today. At this point, they are operating more than 50 hotels with a further 80 in the pipeline, taking up a total of 12,000 rooms across key cities and resorts across the country. India continues as a driving force behind IHG’s international vision, given a boost by domestic travel patterns, their demography, as well as a steady increase in its confidence level as far as hospitality is concerned. Their brands vary from luxury, premium, to mid-scale brands like InterContinental, Six Senses, Crowne Plaza, voco, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Garner, to Staybridge Suites, among others. All the brands target different categories of travelers with varying budgets.
This aggressive strategy reflects the group's strength in the buoyant hospitality offerings in the Indian market, which continues to register steady progress in the last few years. Additionally, the strategy includes the launch of Vignette Collection in early 2026. The continued success of the Holiday Inn brand and the Holiday Inn Express brands, which cumulatively comprise a large majority of hotels opened as well as in the pipeline, reflects the potential for inroads into this market. Whether it be the Lucknow Crowne Plaza, which symbolizes the 50th hotel opened in the Indian hospitality industry under the IHG brand, or new properties in Srinagar, Goa, Gurugram, Mumbai, or Amritsar, it symbolizes the rapid momentum witnessed in this segment.
