IIT Madras has retained a top spot for the fifth consecutive year and JNU was the top autonomous university: NIRF 2023

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras retained the top ranking in the National Institute Ranking Framework (NIRF), 2023 for the fifth consecutive year. The Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru has been recognised as the best university, as per the Ministry of Education.

 In the ‘overall’ category, IISc Bengaluru bagged second place, followed by IIT Delhi.

The top autonomous institutions in the total list were Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Banaras Hindu University, and Jamia Millia Islamia, taking the 10th, 11th, and 12th spots, respectively.

IIT Madras continued to hold the top position among engineering institutions for the consecutive eighth year. IIT Delhi and IIT Bombay have been ranked second and third in the category, respectively.

 Presidency College in Chennai came in second place, followed by Miranda House and Hindu College of Delhi University.

The top university for research is IISc Bengaluru, whereas the best university for innovation is IIT Kanpur. Moreover, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad has been rated as the best management college, followed by IIM Bangalore and IIM Kozhikode.

The National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, Hyderabad, has received the top spot in pharmacy. The second and third places, respectively, have been assigned to Jamia Hamdard and BITS Pilani.

 Similar to other fields, the law has a ranking that includes the National Law School of India University, Bengaluru, National Law University, Delhi, and NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad.
