India's total COVID19 immunisation effort has already exceeded the 200-crore mark, a historic feat. According to preliminary statistics, a total of 20,00,015,631 doses were delivered across the country as of July 17, 2022 till 1 p.m. This was accomplished through 26,326,111 sessions. Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi congratulated the people on this historic achievement in a tweet. He described India's immunisation campaign as “unparalleled in scale and speed”.

Hon'ble PM inaugurated India's nationwide COVID19 immunisation campaign on January 16, 2021. Under his proactive and visionary leadership, India supported the research, development, and manufacturing of COVID19 vaccines through the "Make-in-India" and "Make-for-World" Strategies, embarked on the use of cutting-edge technologies such as CoWIN for evaluating geographical coverage, tracking AEFI for vaccines, promoting inclusivity, and providing a single reference point for citizens to follow their vaccination schedule, and prioritised vaccine administration based on scientific evidence and global best practices.

Despite a decrease in COVID cases across the country, constant efforts to vaccinate all eligible individuals remained ongoing. This is demonstrated by the fact that it took nearly 9 months to reach the 100 Cr vaccination mark and another 9 months to reach the 200 Cr vaccination mark since the start of the vaccination drive on January 16, 2021 with the highest single-day vaccination record of 2.5 Cr doses achieved on September 17, 2021.
