India and its Northern European partner Denmark have embarked on a new era in the context of a "far-reaching Green Strategic Partnership" to allow Denmark to provide India with sustainable solutions.
Focusing on the ambitious adoption of the Paris Agreement and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, the Green Strategic Partnership is a mutually beneficial arrangement for advancing political collaboration, expanding economic links and green growth, generating employment and improving cooperation in resolving global issues and problems, officials told ET.
The agreement is in accordance with the vision shared by the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Denmark, Mr. Mette Frederiksen, and the Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi, who held a virtual meeting on 28 September. The two prime ministers recognized the value of the creation of a Green Strategic Alliance, in which India and Denmark would collaborate across ministries, agencies and stakeholders concerned.
Mr. Modi also proposed exploring the potential for the India-Denmark Expertise Institute to be developed to help Danish businesses operating in India pick the individuals they need from the local qualified population. The Covid-19 pandemic and global issues of concern to both groups, including climate change and the green transition, were discussed by Mr. Modi and Mr. Frederiksen and reached to a shared consensus with a view to accelerating sustainable economies and communities.
This relationship would expand on and strengthen the current agreement between India and Denmark creating the Joint Cooperation Commission (signed 6 February 2009) which envisages cooperation in the political arena; in the economic and commercial field; Furthermore, the latest Joint Working Groups on Agriculture and Animal Husbandry, Economic Development, Ecology, Sustainable Energy, Food Production, Research, Technology and Innovation, Shipping, Labor Mobility and Digitization are being developed and complemented.
