India and Egypt discussed measures to enhance two-way investment flows, strengthen bilateral economic cooperation and facilitate smoother trade in digitally delivered services during a meeting between Commerce and Industry Minister Mr. Piyush Goyal and Egypt’s Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Mr. Mohamed Farid Saleh on the sidelines of the BRICS India 2026 Trade and Industry Ministers’ Meeting. The discussions focused on strengthening economic engagement between the two countries and creating an enabling environment for greater investment and digital services trade. The meeting comes as India, under its BRICS 2026 Chairship, continues to promote deeper economic cooperation among member countries and strengthen trade and investment partnerships.

Earlier, India also highlighted the importance of strengthening manufacturing competitiveness, technological collaboration, resilient value chains and sustainable industrial growth among BRICS nations. India’s priorities include supporting micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), promoting startup innovation, expanding clean energy cooperation and developing technology-enabled logistics ecosystems. These areas are expected to create opportunities for greater economic integration, innovation and investment while supporting sustainable industrial development. The India-Egypt discussions on digital services and investment complement these broader efforts to deepen international economic cooperation and strengthen trade and investment linkages.
