India and Estonia are sustaining a warm and cordial relationship. This was evident in the 13th Foreign Office Consultations held in Tallinn, co-chaired by Secretary (West) at the Ministry of External Affairs Mr. Sibi George and Undersecretary for Political Affairs in Estonia’s Foreign Affairs Ministry Mr. Martin Roger. The External Affairs Ministry made it clear that regular interactions at political and official levels have helped to build trust and cooperation. The consultations examined ways and means to further enhance their relationship, including the promotion of trade and investment, cooperation in cyber and digital fields, and enhancement of cultural ties, which reflect the increasingly multi-faceted nature of their relationship. The consultations also provided an opportunity to review the progress of ongoing bilateral initiatives, cooperation in multilateral fora, and exchange of views on regional and global developments of mutual interest. During the visit, Secretary (West) at the Ministry of External Affairs Mr. Sibi George also called on Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Estonia Mr. Jonatan Vseviov and the Chairman of the Estonia-India Parliamentary Friendship Group Mr. Urmas Reinsalu further strengthening the parliamentary and diplomatic ties between the two countries.
This is an indication of the joint effort to enhance economic and technology cooperation, particularly in digital areas where Estonia is a world leader. Both sides reiterated their commitment to further enhancing people-to-people ties, cultural exchanges, and academic cooperation, which they believe are crucial for a long-term partnership. The consultations emphasized the need to sustain the momentum, with both countries eager to work together on bilateral and global issues. The continued high-level engagement and dialogue make it clear that India and Estonia view their relationship as a strategic partnership based on mutual respect and shared democratic values.
