India and France have announced 13 key outcomes aimed at strengthening cooperation across technology, innovation, trade, education, space and strategic sectors, marking a significant expansion of engagement under the India-France Special Global Strategic Partnership. The outcomes include the adoption of the India-France Innovation Roadmap 2030, which will guide collaboration in technology, research, innovation and education, as well as the creation of a Joint India-France Artificial Intelligence (AI) Working Group focused on AI governance and responsible use of emerging technologies. Both countries also agreed to establish a National Centre of Excellence for Skilling in Aeronautics and Allied Sectors at the National Skill Training Institute (NSTI), Kanpur, expand the use of India’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI) in France and support the incubation of 10 additional Indian startups at Station F, one of Europe’s leading startup campuses. These initiatives reflect a shared commitment to strengthening innovation ecosystems, promoting digital cooperation and enhancing skill development.
The two countries also announced measures to deepen economic and strategic cooperation through a High-Level Mechanism aimed at doubling bilateral trade over the next five years and the establishment of an Economic Security Dialogue to strengthen collaboration in supply chains and critical sectors. Additional outcomes include cooperation in digital sciences, digital health research, railway and high-speed rail development, and academic collaboration through an ICCR India Chair on “AI, Innovation and Culture” at Université Paris-Saclay. India’s Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and France’s Centre National d'Études Spatiales (CNES) also agreed to expand cooperation in microgravity research and human space exploration. The outcomes underscore the growing depth of India-France relations and are expected to strengthen collaboration in advanced technologies, infrastructure, trade, defence and space while supporting long-term economic growth and innovation-driven development in both countries.
