Rajya Sabha Chairman Mr. C. P. Radhakrishnan expressed confidence that India and Russia would achieve their target of Rs. 9.51 lakh crore (US$ 100 billion) in annual bilateral trade by 2030 during a meeting with a Russian parliamentary delegation led by State Duma Chairman Mr. Vyacheslav Volodin in New Delhi. The target reflects the commitment of both countries’ leadership to expanding bilateral economic engagement. Discussions covered key areas of cooperation, including economic ties, inter-regional cooperation, science and technology, cultural exchanges and people-to-people relations. Strengthening these partnerships is expected to support mutual interests and create further opportunities for collaboration. Continued diplomatic and institutional engagement between the two countries also provides a platform for discussing shared priorities and expanding bilateral cooperation.

Regular parliamentary exchanges between India and Russia provide opportunities to understand mutual priorities, share experiences and identify avenues for collaboration. These engagements include the 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit in December 2025, held during Russian President Mr. Vladimir Putin’s state visit to India, and the visit of an Indian parliamentary delegation led by Kanimozhi Karunanidhi, accompanied by five Members of Parliament, to Russia in May 2025. Such interactions support dialogue on issues of mutual interest and contribute to strengthening bilateral relations. Preparations are also underway to mark the 80th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between India and Russia, reflecting the longstanding relationship between the two countries.
