Indian and the US Governments are ‘thinking big’ in terms of their trade and commerce relationship, said Mr. Piyush Goyal, the Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, and Textiles.

As the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) has been ruled out, Mr. Piyush Goyal, the Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, and Textiles stated that the Indian Government is looking at much bigger ambitions in the trade with the US. India is focusing on greater market access and the ease of doing business between both countries.

India and the US have launched a new Trade Policy Forum (TPF) Working Group on Resilient Trade, which would enable officials to deepen bilateral dialogue on several issues which would enhance the resiliency and sustainability of the trade relationship. During a meeting, Mr. Piyush Goyal and Ms. Katherine Tai, the US Trade Representative, underlined the importance of the TPF in moulding bilateral trade ties and enhancing bilateral economic relations to benefit people working in both countries. They also appreciated the increment in the bilateral trade of goods and services to reach to US$ 160 billion in 2021.
