India and US Deepen Strategic Partnership at Quad Meeting in Manila

External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar met United States Secretary of State Mr. Marco Rubio in Manila to review key priorities under the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership on the sidelines of the Quad Foreign Ministers' Meeting and the ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meetings. The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in trade and tariffs, energy, defence and security, critical minerals and artificial intelligence, while both leaders also exchanged views on regional, global and multilateral developments of mutual interest. The engagement reflects the growing depth of India-US strategic ties and their shared commitment to expanding collaboration across emerging technologies, resilient supply chains and economic partnerships.
The meeting coincided with the reconvening of the Quad, comprising India, the United States, Australia and Japan, where member countries reaffirmed their commitment to supporting ASEAN centrality and advancing a free, open and inclusive Indo-Pacific founded on the principles of the rule of law, sovereignty and territorial integrity. During his visit, Dr. Jaishankar also held bilateral discussions with Australian Foreign Minister Senator Penny Wong and Philippines Foreign Secretary Ms. Ma. Theresa P. Lazaro, focusing on enhancing cooperation in trade and investment, education, maritime security, defence, capacity building and regional connectivity. The engagements underscore India's continued commitment to its Act East Policy and the ASEAN-India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, while reinforcing cooperation with key regional partners to promote economic growth, maritime security, resilient supply chains and a stable Indo-Pacific region.
