India and US have agreed to streamline the funding for research projects

India and the US have signed an agreement that would streamline the selection and funding process of research projects between the scientists and engineers from the two countries, the National Science Federation (NSF), an independent agency of the US said.

The opportunities offered by the arrangement are broad and can adjust to the strategic priorities and researcher interests in the fields of computer science and engineering, geosciences, etc.

The Indian-American NSF director said that the implementation of the arrangement would leverage the strong scientific and cultural connections between the US and India.

In the last five years, about US$ 146 million has been invested by the NSF in collaborative research activities with scientists, engineers, and educators across India. These partnerships have supported new economic opportunities and discoveries that are transforming and leading innovation that will benefit the world.

As per a media release, these joint US-India research projects and principal investigators from both nations are bringing their expertise together to accelerate the development of new technologies, tools, and systems for mutual societal and economic benefit.
