According to the CAF World Giving Index 2021, India is among the top-20 most generous countries in the world. India is now ranked 14th in the world, up from 82nd ten years ago. “India is one of the fastest risers on the Index, ranking 14 this year after ranking 82 in the tenth Anniversary report,” according to the Charities Help Basis (CAF) latest survey. According to the research, 61% more Indians have volunteered to aid a stranger during the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic year. Last year, 36% of Indians gave money and 34% volunteered for humanitarian causes across the country.
Communities all around the world mobilized to help their neighbors cope with the pandemic, resulting in the greatest numbers of ‘helped a stranger' since 2009. According to the poll, more than half (55%) of the world's adults – or 3 billion people - reported serving someone they didn't know in 2020.
Furthermore, in 2020, more people contributed money than in the previous five years (31%). On a global scale, the ranges of volunteering in 2020 remain largely constant, according to the report.
Globally, established international areas such as the United States, Canada, Ireland, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands have dropped out of the top ten, with only Australia and New Zealand remaining in the top ten. Poor countries including Kenya, Nigeria, and Ghana have reportedly been ranked outside of the top ten most prosperous countries in the CAF 2021 ranking.
Indonesia is by far the most beneficiant country on the globe. With a score of 69, Indonesia leads the CAF World Giving Index, followed by Kenya (2), Nigeria (3), Myanmar (4), Australia (5), Ghana (6), New Zealand (7), Uganda (8), Kosovo (9) and Thailand (10). The United States was ranked first in the 2019 10-year Index.
The data for the CAF World Giving Index comes from Gallup's World View World Ballot. The data has been provided for 114 foreign sites, covering over 90% of the world's adult population.
