Ambassador of Brazil to India, Mr. Kenneth Felix Haczynski da Nobrega, on September 22, 2025, highlighted that Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi’s state visit to Brazil in July 2025 established “five pillars as a chartering course for our future partnership over the next 10 years,” with two pillars already being implemented under the Maitri 2.0 India-Brazil Cross Border Agri-Tech Incubators programme. The two active pillars focus on food security and science, technology, and innovation, fostering joint research and collaboration in agriculture. Speaking at the event, the ambassador said the initiative aims to enhance agricultural resilience to climate change and extreme weather events, and improve productivity, leveraging the strengths of India and Brazil, which consistently rank among the world’s top agricultural producers.
He emphasised that less than two months after Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi’s visit, both countries have begun hands-on implementation of these commitments. During his July 2025 visit, Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi had noted that the India-Brazil partnership stands as a key pillar of stability and balance, with cooperation extending beyond the Global South to have relevance for the entire world. He further stated that, as two large democratic nations, India and Brazil have a moral obligation to advance the priorities and concerns of the Global South at global forums. The Maitri 2.0 programme, therefore, not only strengthens bilateral agricultural ties but also underscores the shared commitment of both countries to science, innovation, and sustainable development on a global scale.
