As major global technology companies intensify their focus on artificial intelligence (AI) and generative AI (GenAI), India emerges as a pivotal hub, leveraging its engineering talent. Microsoft recently concluded its inaugural AI Tour in India, drawing 3,000 attendees. President of Microsoft Asia, Mr. Ahmed Mazhari, anticipates that Indian information technology (IT) companies will lead in the global embrace of AI. During an interview in Mumbai, Mr. Mazhari discussed India's position in AI adoption, emphasizing its significance in Microsoft's broader Asian operations.
He highlighted the ubiquity of AI, reaching every smartphone user, and discussed diverse applications across enterprises. Notably, several customers, including government entities, at the India AI Tour showcased their AI adoption experiences. Expressing optimism about India's potential, Mr. Mazhari cited the success of Microsoft's project FarmVibes, a substantial platform operating in the US currently active in Baramati, Maharashtra. The project focuses on creating a futuristic farming environment to enhance productivity for farmers. Early experiments with Microsoft research indicate a noteworthy increase in productivity, ranging from 20% to 30% in specific products and markets.
