India Conducted First BRICS Youth Coordination Meeting 2026

The Government of India organized the first BRICS Youth Coordination Meeting 2026 on March 25, 2026, in a virtual mode, which marked the commencement of the youth engagement program under the chairmanship of India for BRICS. This meeting was attended by representatives of all the BRICS countries and initiated the discussion on the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation, and Sustainability.” As the chair for the year 2026, India has outlined the roadmap for the BRICS Youth Track, which involves a series of engagements, including Working Group Meetings, discussions, volunteering, the Youth Development Forum, the Youth Council Meeting, the Youth Summit, and the Youth Ministerial Meeting, among others. This highlights the importance that India has placed on the relationship between the people and the youth of the emerging economies.

The meeting also identified key priority areas for cooperation among member countries, which included education and skills development, youth entrepreneurship, science and innovation, social inclusion, health and sports, environmental sustainability, and youth exchanges. The priority areas are intended to provide a framework for developing a collaborative platform where young leaders can make meaningful contributions to the development of an inclusive and sustainable development agenda in BRICS countries. Through the discussions, member countries are better aligned in terms of thematic priorities, providing a framework for engagement throughout the year. The initiative, therefore, seeks to strengthen youth cooperation in BRICS, to boost India’s influence in the development of a global youth dialogue and the overall BRICS agenda in terms of building resilience, collaboration, and sustainable development in member countries.
