The Electric Two-Wheelers (e-2W) market in India continued to grow steadily in 2025, with 1.18 million registrations between January and November (up from 1.07 million in the same period the previous year). Following the spike in registrations in November, driven by the festival season, it achieved a 10% cumulative gain over the eleven months of calendar 2025. Based on analysts' opinions, the overall growth rate for calendar year 2025 is expected to be in the 8–10% range, indicating ongoing consumer demand even amid volatility. Industry experts believe that the limited supply of rare-earth magnets worldwide has constrained manufacturers' ability to produce large quantities of e-2Ws for extended periods. In addition, a slower-than-expected launch of product offerings from several major manufacturers, notably Ola Electric, is contributing to lower monthly production levels.
According to data released on the Vahan Portal (as of December 1), new competitors in e-2W have experienced a significant shift in their positions of advantage. The Company, TVS Motor Company, recorded the most registrations, with 272,874 e-2W registrations from January through November. Bajaj Auto, which has had strong success with its Chetak electric two-wheelers, registered 250,366 e-2W units in the same time period. As for start-ups, the newly formed company Ola Electric registered 190,088 e-2Ws, placing it third on this list. The Ather Energy Company was just behind with 183,163 registrations. In November, the industry sold a total of 116,849 e-2W units, making it the second-highest sales month of 2025.
