India and Egypt inked a MoU on September 18, 2022, to strengthen their bilateral defence cooperation and came to an agreement on expanding joint exercises as Minister of Defence, Mr. Rajnath Singh, held wide-ranging discussions with his Egyptian counterpart General Mohamed Zaki.

Both sides reached a consensus to improve the conduct of joint exercises and the exchange of personnel for training, particularly in the area of counter-insurgency.

The ministers also discussed regional security and acknowledged Egypt's and India's contributions to global peace and stability. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, both the parties expressed satisfaction with the increased defence engagement and exchanges over the past year.

The signing of the MoU by the two Defence Ministers would open the door for expanding defence cooperation across all sectors of common interest.
