India is rapidly emerging as the most preferred warehousing destination in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region, with nearly 70% of occupiers planning to expand their logistics footprint in the country over the next two years, according to CBRE’s 2025 India Logistics Occupier Survey. The report reflects growing occupier confidence driven by evolving global supply chain strategies, rising domestic consumption, and enhanced logistics infrastructure. Over 80% of Indian respondents, including both domestic and multinational firms, signalled expansion intent, demonstrating India’s strategic significance despite macroeconomic uncertainties.
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer- India, South-East Asia, Middle East & Africa, CBRE, Mr. Anshuman Magazine, stated that India’s logistics sector is undergoing a transformation propelled by macroeconomic stability, fast-paced infrastructure development, and a shift towards scalable and sustainable facilities. Around 84% of respondents indicated a preference for new, investment-grade facilities equipped with automation and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) compliance. Technology and ESG considerations are now central to logistics decisions, with 57% investing in automated storage and retrieval systems and prioritising features like green certifications and smart energy systems. Cities like Nagpur, Coimbatore, Indore, Lucknow, and Jaipur are emerging as key logistics hubs, offering affordability and connectivity. With warehousing stock expected to double by 2030, supported by government initiatives such as the Gati Shakti master plan and National Logistics Policy, India is poised to become APAC’s leading logistics powerhouse.
