According to NetApp's second annual Data Complexity Report, India is emerging as a key player in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region, leveraging its early investments in data infrastructure to drive AI readiness. Based on insights from over 1,300 IT executives across nine markets (US, EMEA, and APAC), the report highlights the challenges and opportunities businesses face in managing data for AI. It underscores the importance of intelligent data infrastructure for scaling AI capabilities by 2025. APAC countries, including India, are leading in AI readiness, with 73% of respondents stating their data is optimised for AI, surpassing the global average. India’s focus on data management is evident, with 44% of Indian executives prioritising it currently. In comparison, 37% are focused on future AI goals.
However, AI adoption has introduced new challenges, particularly in data security and sustainability. In APAC, 72% of respondents reported increased security challenges due to AI adoption. Corporate sustainability processes are also expected to undergo significant changes, with a third of global tech executives anticipating new energy policies. Carbon footprint reduction remains a priority for 72% of companies, especially in AI-intensive regions. The report suggests that companies prioritising data unification are more likely to achieve their AI goals by 2025. India’s proactive approach positions it well for continued leadership in AI innovation.
