According to Indian Sugar Mills Association (ISMA), India has contracts for the export of roughly 35 lakh tonnes of sugar so far in the current 2022-2023 season, of which 2,000,000 tonnes were sent last month.
According to the 2022-23 sugar export policy, which was announced on November 5, exports of 60 lakh tonnes of the sweetener were allowed on a quota basis. Once the domestic output is evaluated, more export quantities will be permitted.
The crushing process has started during the current 2022-2023 season. As of November 15 of this season, mills had produced 19.9 lakh tonnes of sugar. The country exported 11 million tonnes of sugar in the 2021-22 season.
