On Wednesday, France and India decided to expand their strategic partnership and reached an agreement to create an Indo-Pacific trilateral framework to implement development projects. They also agreed to collaborate closely to address urgent global issues like the food crisis brought on by the conflict in Ukraine.

French Foreign Minister Ms. Catherine Colonna described Russian attacks on Ukraine as waging a "devastating war of aggression" on the territory of a sovereign state and said France was determined to work with India to address the "terrible consequences" of the war after extensive discussions with her Indian counterpart, Mr. S Jaishankar.

She stated that numerous problems have arisen in the Indo-Pacific as a result of China, and that France and India have similar worries about the situation "because we recognise the role that the Chinese are playing and we want to make sure there is no imbalance" in the region.

In separate trilateral agreements with Australia and the UAE, India and France also made the decision to increase cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region.
