India, France discuss ways to increase mobility of students, professionals

India and France have discussed ideas to jointly increase the mobility of students, professionals and skilled workers, while strengthening their efforts to combat irregular migration between the two countries.

The two countries are completely committed to furthering the implementation of the Partnership Agreement on Migration and Mobility, which went into force on October 1, 2021, according to a joint statement released on May 4 after Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi met with the President of France, Mr. Emmanuel Macron.

The pact intends to make temporary circular migration easier by promoting mobility and encouraging people to return home with their skills.

"Recognizing the benefits of bilateral student mobility, France maintains its goal of 20,000 Indian students by 2025, which will create potential for new firms, start-ups, and innovation between the two nations." said the joint statement.
