India-France ties are witnessing renewed momentum across technology, innovation and strategic sectors under the leadership of Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi and French President Mr. Emmanuel Macron, according to Union Commerce and Industry Minister Mr. Piyush Goyal. The statement noted that bilateral cooperation has expanded significantly in recent years, spanning strategic, economic, technological and innovation-driven domains. Further emphasised that French businesses and investors have been invited to become active participants in India’s growth journey, highlighting the importance of deeper partnerships to create a more prosperous and sustainable future for both nations. Additionally, underscored India’s emergence as a global innovation and manufacturing hub, while outlining the growing opportunities for investment, collaboration and co-development initiatives.
As part of the France visit, Union Minister Mr. Piyush Goyal toured Sophia Antipolis, widely regarded as Europe’s Silicon Valley and the continent’s largest science and technology hub. Home to more than 2,600 companies, the technology park serves as a model of how research, talent and enterprise can come together to drive innovation-led economic growth. The statement highlighted that industry leaders were encouraged to explore India’s rapidly expanding innovation ecosystem, which is creating new opportunities for technology partnerships with global stakeholders. Additionally, the statement noted that meetings were held in Nice with leaders from government, business, innovation and investment sectors to discuss avenues for strengthening bilateral cooperation. The statement further noted that Bharat Innovates 2026, being hosted at the Palais des Expositions, showcases India’s innovation capabilities through the participation of 120 startups and more than 20 Institutes of Excellence across 13 technology domains. The event has attracted more than 350 global investors and venture capitalists, reflecting rising international confidence in India’s vibrant startup and deep-tech landscape.
