India-France ties: After PM Modi's visit, France ready to work on Make in India initiatives in space, defence

India and France have decided to work closely together in line with the Make in India programmes to address challenges related to space issues, as well as having stronger links in climate change and defense-related topics. Additionally, during Indian Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi's recent visit to France, India and France agreed to establish a bilateral strategic dialogue on space issues, building on a great tradition of over 60 years of technical and scientific space cooperation.

The six Scorpene submarines manufactured at MDL in Mumbai show the extent of technological transfer from France to India, as part of the "Make in India" project. Meanwhile, India and France's maritime cooperation has reached new heights of trust, and it will continue through exercises, exchanges, and joint ventures across the Indian Ocean.

The two sides have launched a number of initiatives to connect their Start-up ecosystems, and they welcome recent public-private engagement to build standards and protocols for free, inclusive, innovative, and open public digital infrastructure and solutions to transform people's lives and the larger global good, based on their respective successes. At this year's Vivatech, Europe's largest digital expo, in Paris, India will be the inaugural Country of the Year.
