The third Joint Working Group Meeting on Alternative Medicine between the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, and the Federal Ministry of Health, Germany, held from November 18 to 20, 2025, in Berlin, marked a significant step forward in strengthening Indo-German collaboration in traditional and integrative healthcare. The dialogue focused on integrating traditional medicine into public health systems, establishing reimbursement pathways for wider patient access, and reinforcing regulatory approval mechanisms to ensure safety, quality, and scientific validation. The Indian delegation, led by Joint Secretary, Ministry of Ayush, Ms. Monalisha Dash, engaged with senior German health officials and representatives from leading institutions to identify concrete areas for cooperation, including research, regulatory harmonisation, and institutional linkages.
Key engagements included interactions with the Competence Center for Traditional and Integrative Medicine at Charité University to explore joint research and advance the proposed Memorandum of Understanding, visits to the Community Hospital Havelhöhe for insights into integrative care models, and discussions with the Federal Joint Committee on insurance and reimbursement structures. These engagements underscored a shared commitment to evidence-based traditional medicine and people-centric healthcare delivery. The visit reflects India’s broader strategy to globalise Ayush systems, reinforce international partnerships, and build frameworks that support patient access while maintaining high standards of clinical governance and regulatory compliance.
