As natural allies, Greece's ambassador to India, Mr. Dimitrios Ioannou, has expressed interest in bridging the cultures of his nation and India, ‘both ancient civilisations,’ closer together.
On the sidelines of an exhibition of artefacts, he said to the Press trust of India (PTI) that said he could discern Greek influence in some of the statuettes on display and vice-versa.
He added that he advocated for UNESCO to designate the ‘Indian-Greek common heritage’ as a specific subject that should be investigated and studied in the near future in addition to promoting exchanges between museum teams from the two nations.
In response to the Administrator General's Office's proposal to build a 25-category, international standard judicial museum, and research centre in Kolkata, he stated, "our objective is to have links with 149 countries."
