The Union Defence Minister of India, Mr. Rajnath Singh, while addressing the Ambassadors’ Roundtable conference for the upcoming Aero India 2023, said that India has a robust defence manufacturing ecosystem, with the country’s aerospace and defence manufacturing segments well prepared for future challenges.

He added that Aero India is a premier global aviation trade fair and provides an opportunity for the Indian aviation-defence industry, to showcase its products, technologies, and solutions to the national decision-makers. The theme of the event is ‘the runway to a billion opportunities” and will be organized at the Air Force Station, Yelahanka for five days. Over 80 countries are participating as of now with around 645 exhibitors. Aero India will be a good opportunity for India to exchange information, ideas, and new technological developments in the aviation industry.

Mr. Rajnath Singh stated that because of the strong defence manufacturing ecosystem, India has emerged as a leading defence exporter in recent years. The defence exports have grown by eight times in the last five years and now India is exporting to over 75 countries. Additionally, he said that India is partnering with global defence industry giants and recently, a contract for the manufacture of C-295 aircraft for the Indian Air Force was signed through collaboration between Tata Advanced Systems Limited and Airbus Defence and Space, Spain.

The defence minister also said that India will display its 3Ds to the world - development, democracy, and diversity as part of the G20 Presidency.
