India helped over 150 nations in form of Covid vaccines: Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha

Mr. Harivansh Narayan Singh, the Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha, while addressing the 26th Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers of the Commonwealth (CSPOC) in Australia, stated that India had offered support to more than 150 affected countries in the form of Covid vaccines, medical equipment, and medicines in the pandemic period. He said that India has helped in the evacuation of stranded foreign nationals to around 123 countries from various parts of the country.

He remarked that under the initiative ‘Vaccine Maitri,’ India supplied covid-19 Made-in-India vaccines to various countries across the world. Under this initiative, more than 282 million vaccines have been supplied to 101 countries and two United Nation entities, as of December 2022. Further, he said that solidarity and effective collaboration within the association between the nations is the key to fight against global challenges.

Indian Government has taken several measures for containing the spread of the virus and the Parliament has also approved the budgets to meet the requirements during the pandemic and post-pandemic period, he said. India has also developed National electronic-Vidhaan Application (NeVA) on the theme 'One National One Application' to make all the legislative bodies in India digitally connected.

The Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha stated that India for sure will be laying out a plan for the way forward for lasting global peace and shared prosperity.
