New Delhi: India is now the world’s seventh most valued ‘nation brand’, moving up one position compared to last year, as per the annual report on world’s most valuable nation brands compiled by Brand Finance. India’s brand value has reached US$ 2.1 billion witnessing an increase of 32 per cent which is the highest among the top 20 countries on the list. The US retains the first position with a valuation of US$ 19.7 billion, followed by China and Germany at the second and the third positions respectively. The UK is ranked fourth, Japan secured fifth position while France has moved up to sixth position. Among BRICS nations, India is the only country to have witnessed an increase in its brand value while Brazil, Russia, China and South Africa have seen a dip in their respective brand valuations. India is the second most valued nation among these five emerging economies after China. Brand Finance measures a nation's brand value by a method based on the royalty relief mechanism used to value the world’s largest companies.
