India is the second largest overseas market for the US in terms of tourist arrivals, and the healthy growth of Indians visiting America is expected to continue in 2025, Brand USA CEO Mr. Fred Dixon has said. With 2.2 million Indians visiting the US in 2024, a 24% increase from the previous year and nearly 50% growth since 2019. This surge reflects India's growing importance in global tourism, ranking just behind the United Kingdom (UK) and ahead of Germany. With five million Indians holding valid US visas and an additional 2.50 lakh visa interviews announced, the trend is expected to continue in 2025. The US Mission also issued over one million non-immigrant visas to Indians in 2024, underscoring the strong travel demand.
Indian travellers have significantly impacted the US economy, contributing Rs. 1,72,840 crore (US$ 20 billion) in 2023. The growing interest in US tourism is bolstered by events like the upcoming (International Federation of Association Football) FIFA World Cup in 2026, expected to attract even more visitors. Despite challenges like California wildfires, the US tourism infrastructure remains strong, offering Indian tourists a seamless travel experience. Brand USA, the country’s destination marketing organization, continues to promote the US as a premier destination while simplifying travel policies for Indian travellers.
