India has emerged as Marriott International’s hotspot in the Asia Pacific region excluding China (APEC), as it celebrated a milestone year in 2025 with 99 hotel signings and over 12,000 rooms added. This was the third consecutive year of record-breaking development signings in Asia Pacific region excluding China (APEC), with a total of 187 deals signed, accounting for over 28,000 rooms, a significant 32% increase from the previous year. This is because of the high travel demand, expansion of brand offerings, and growing investor confidence, all of which solidify India as a key growth driver in Marriott International’s regional expansion strategy.
One of the most exciting developments was the launch of Series by Marriott in India, introduced through a multi-unit signing that transformed 26 hotels and introduced almost 1,900 rooms in one go. By the end of 2025, the brand had 37 operating hotels with around 2,600 rooms in 23 Indian cities, which is a testament to the rapid expansion of the brand’s presence in the country. Conversions accounted for around 35% of total signings, while multi-unit signings accounted for almost 30%, which is a testament to the new development paradigm that is redefining the hospitality industry. Upscale brands such as JW Marriott, The Ritz-Carlton and The Luxury Collection also saw considerable momentum, which is a testament to the ongoing shift towards premium offerings in the tourism and hospitality industry in India.
