India's electronics manufacturing and exports have witnessed a remarkable transformation over the past decade, fuelled by policy support and targeted incentives. Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology, Railways, and Information & Broadcasting, Mr. Ashwini Vaishnaw, highlighted that electronics manufacturing has grown five-fold, surpassing Rs. 11,00,000 crore (US$ 128.76 billion) in FY25. Exports have increased six-fold to over Rs. 3,25,000 crore (US$ 38.04 billion). This surge has generated nearly 25 lakh jobs. At the inauguration of VVDN Technologies' Surface Mount Technology (SMT) Line in Manesar, Mr. Ashwini Vaishnaw emphasised that Indian-made electronics now enjoy global recognition for their reliability and adherence to intellectual property rights.

India’s expanding design ecosystem has enabled the local development of advanced technologies ranging from artificial intelligence (AI) cameras to telecom and power electronics. The Cabinet's recently approved incentives for electronics components are expected to deepen the manufacturing value chain, creating further opportunities. VVDN’s newly launched SMT Line, the company’s largest, supports printed circuit board (PCB) sizes of up to 850 millimetre (mm) x 560mm with a high-speed capacity of 2,50,000 components per hour. Additionally, its Mechanical Innovation Park will support tool-making and injection moulding, boosting localisation and backward integration. VVDN plans to onboard over 3,000 skilled professionals as part of its expansion. With 11 Research and Development (R&D) centres and a 5,000-strong engineering workforce, VVDN is advancing India’s ambition to become a global electronics hub under the ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ (self-reliant India) initiatives.
