India, Maldives ink six agreements to broad-base ties in key areas

Since its inception six years ago, the LDB Project of the NLDSL-NICDC Logistics Data Bank has handled 50 August 2 saw the signing of six agreements between India and the Maldives to deepen collaboration in a number of crucial areas. Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi stated that India has been and would continue to be the "first responder" to whatever needs or crises the island nation faces.

Mr. Modi offered a Line of Credit of US$ 100 million for the neighbouring nation for the completion of development projects in a timely manner following extensive discussions with visiting President of Maldives, Mr. Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

According to Mr. Modi, the Indian Ocean faces a major threat from international crime, terrorism, and drug trafficking, and strong ties between India and the Maldives are essential for maintaining peace in the entire region.

He claimed that in addition to serving the interests of the people of both countries, the India-Maldives alliance is also contributing to the peace and stability of the entire region.

The six agreements signed by the two parties will make it easier for them to work together on disaster preparedness, housing, cyber security, and infrastructure development in the Maldives.
