The Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Piyush Goyal, highlighted India’s resilience and progress at the 29th Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Partnership Summit 2024 in Delhi. He described India as a nation embodying speed, scale, and determination while preserving its cultural heritage. Addressing the inaugural session, he emphasised the country's commitment to innovation and tackling global challenges through sustainability, urging a collective approach to environmental protection.
He stressed the principle of “common but differentiated responsibilities,” noting that less-developed nations and the Global South are not primary contributors to environmental damage but are critical to building sustainable solutions. He proposed the acronym "SPACE" to encapsulate the summit's goals: Synergy for global unity, Partnership for productivity and peaceful coexistence, Alignment of actions, Common Good for mutual benefits, and Engagement. The summit hosts 61 countries, 30 global speakers, and 11 international ministers, focusing on resilient supply chains, green technologies, artificial intelligence, gender equality, and strategic growth.
