According to a report, India and Oman recently signed a comprehensive trade agreement, which will strengthen their long-standing relationship and improve economic ties. The Minister of Commerce & Industry of India, Mr. Piyush Goyal, described this agreement as a "watershed moment." The goal of this agreement is to improve trade between India and Oman by removing customs duties and other tariffs, as well as providing Omani exporters with easier access to the Indian marketplace. Therefore, Indian exports will be able to compete more effectively, and the presence of Indian products and services will be greater throughout Oman, as well as in the other Gulf countries.
Commerce & Industry Minister Mr. Piyush Goyal talked about what this agreement means in the context of India's overall strategy to diversify its international trade, especially with nations in West Asia. This agreement will help create a stronger bond between India and Oman, leading to increased investment opportunities for both countries, greater opportunity to grow export revenues, and create trade relationships with one another. Additionally, he indicated that by promoting greater collaboration, traditional export sectors will see growth, as well as service sector engagement, enhanced technology transfer, and improved integration of supply chains. The new agreement also creates an improved trading environment that makes India an attractive place for businesses to invest, which will increase trust and confidence in bilateral trade and lead to long-term sustainable growth.
