India on par with the world in AI adoption: Microsoft Corp. CEO, Mr. Satya Nadella

During his annual visit to India, Microsoft Corp. CEO, Mr. Satya Nadella, commended the country's alignment with global AI adoption trends, stating that India is on par with the rest of the world in embracing artificial intelligence. Mr. Nadella announced Microsoft's commitment to provide AI skills to 2 million individuals in India. He highlighted the uniqueness of AI use cases in India, emphasizing the country's ability to forge its path in scaling AI technologies. Mr. Nadella referred to the Indian electronics and IT ministry's projection that AI could contribute around US$ 500 million to India's GDP by 2025, aligning with the nation's goal of reaching a US$ 5 trillion economy. Drawing parallels to historical industrial revolutions, Mr. Nadella underscored the transformative impact of AI, comparing it to the significance of laying railroads during the British industrial era. He emphasized the need for intense investment in deploying AI across various sectors for India's prospects.

He described the age of AI as "expertise at your fingertips," drawing parallels to the transformative effect on business processes akin to the changes brought about by PCs, emails, and spreadsheets in forecasting.
