Mr. Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister of Railways, Communications, Electronics and Information Technology, stated that the country is already producing electronic goods worth US$ 76 billion and is on track to achieve US$ 300 billion in the near future. He said that the way smartphone usage and the 5G industry are increasing, semiconductors will experience a very significant increase in the next years.
The government supports the growth of the semiconductor industry. Almost 100 academic and R&D institutes have been enlisted to train 5,000 researchers, 30,000 engineers, and 50,000 lower-level workers to increase India's talent pool.
