India Pavilion at Dubai Expo marks 100 days of hectic activities; woos over 7 lakh visitors

On Monday, the India Pavilion at EXPO 2020 Dubai marked its 100th day, becoming one of the most popular enclosures with 7,40,356 visitors, highlighting the country's commercial potential as well as cultural and geographic variety.

Piyush Goyal, Minister of Commerce and Industry, tweeted on the occasion, “100 glorious days of the India Pavilion shining bright at the @Expo2020Dubai. The world is witnessing #IndiaAtDubaiExpo as a hub of innovation, growth and opportunities. Visit the pavilion to experience the grand celebration of India's growth story."

The Expo, which started on October 1st, 2021, will end on March 31st, 2022.  As of January 8th, the Indian enclosure has had 7,40,356 visitors, making it one of the most popular among participating nations.

The Indian Pavilion has welcomed delegations from major industries and states, presenting commercial prospects and focusing on local different geographies, cultures, and socioeconomic diversity.

'Elevate,' a significant initiative within the India Pavilion, showcases unusual solutions to common challenges produced by 500 Indian start-ups. The India Pavilion is now holding the 'Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Week' and the 'Tourism Week,' which began on January 3.

The Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir has signed six agreements with major corporations, totalling US$ 2.5 billion in investment. Al Maya Group, MATU Investments LLC, GL Employment Brokerage LLC, Century Financial, and Noon E-commerce are the key investors.

Gujarat, Karnataka, Telangana, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and the UT of Ladakh have all effectively exhibited their business ecosystems in recent weeks.

The 'Tourist Week' has been essential in highlighting the many tourism classes in which India excels, including spiritual, medical, and luxury tourism.

Other themes have included new and renewable energy, space research and projects, urban-rural development, oil-gas exploration, textiles, and knowledge and learning.

Hardeep Singh Puri, Dr S Jaishankar, V Muraleedharan, Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, R K Singh, and ministers of state Rajeev Chandrasekhar and Darshana V Jardosh were among the prominent Indian ministers who visited the pavilion.

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, former Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa, Foreign Secretary Harsh V Shringla, and Dr K Sivan, Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), were also present.

Bollywood icons Deepika Padukone, Janhvi Kapoor, Jaaved Jaaferi, Salim-Sulaiman, Hariharan, Benny Dayal, Jonita Gandhi, sports legend Sania Mirza, and fashion expert Manish Malhotra also made appearances in the Indian enclosure.

Since its inauguration on October 1st, the Pavilion has celebrated key holidays such as Navratri, Dussehra, and Diwali with cultural programmes and other events.

The Pavilion will now feature state-specific weeks from Goa, Jharkhand, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu, as well as sector-themed programmes on steel, healthcare, electronics and information technology, energy conservation, environment and sustainability, and tribal affairs, according to the timetable.
