India is poised to receive an export order for BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles from the Philippines soon, in what could be a big win for India’s defence export campaign.

"The sale of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile between India and the Philippines is nearing completion, and an export order is expected to be placed soon," government sources told ANI.

"For the last few months, DRDO and BrahMos Aerospace have been lobbying hard for exports of this missile to friendly foreign countries," sources stated.

The DRDO, which is part of the Indian government's defence export push, recently received orders from the Armenian government for 'made-in-India' weapon locating radars. India is likely to receive further orders for the missile system from friendly countries, as it is in advanced talks with a number of foreign countries. Due to increased range and the incorporation of other current technologies, the missile is becoming more capable.
