In 2023, Singapore's Changi Airport experienced a notable rebound, handling 328,000 flights and accommodating 58.9 million passengers, marking a significant recovery to 83% of pre-COVID-19 traffic levels, as indicated by official data released on Wednesday. The Changi Airport Group (CAG) reported that among its top five largest passenger markets, Indonesia led in 2023, followed by Malaysia, Australia, Thailand, and India.
Notably, India, which ranked sixth in travel traffic generation for Changi Airport in 2019, ascended to fifth in 2023. Before the pandemic in 2019, the airport recorded 68.3 million passenger movements. The traffic in 2023 represented an 83% increase from the 32.2 million passengers handled in 2022.
The data further revealed that 328,000 flights were conducted at Changi Airport in 2023, compared to 382,000 flights in 2019. In the last quarter of 2023, the airport recorded 16.1 million passenger movements, surpassing 90% of pre-pandemic levels. This data underscores the notable recovery and resurgence of travel activity at Changi Airport in the post-pandemic period.
