Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi said India is moving rapidly towards its goal of becoming a developed nation, driven by strong economic fundamentals despite global challenges. He noted that India’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is growing at nearly 7%, adding that the country is emerging not only as a major market but also as a model of growth and resilience. Addressing the sixth Ramnath Goenka Lecture in New Delhi, he emphasised that development should remain the primary focus for both the central and state governments.
He encouraged state governments to deepen healthy competition by attracting investments and improving ease of doing business, suggesting that structured competitions could accelerate reforms and enhance state-level performance. He reiterated that the world is observing India’s growth approach as a ‘model of hope,’ reflecting confidence in the country’s sustained reform momentum, expanding economic opportunities, and ability to deliver inclusive development even in a volatile global environment.
