India's April-December fiscal deficit at US$ 118.2 billion (Rs. 9.82 trillion), 55% of FY24 target

India's fiscal deficit for the first nine months of FY24 stood at US$ 118.2 billion (Rs. 9.82 trillion), according to the government data released on January 31, 2024, which accounts for 55% of the estimated deficit for the entire year. During the April-December period, net tax revenues amounted to US$ 208.3 billion (Rs. 17.30 trillion), representing approximately 74.2% of the annual estimate, up from US$ 187.3 billion (Rs. 15.56 trillion) during the same period in the previous year. Total expenditure for the period reached US$ 367.7 billion (Rs. 30.54 trillion), equivalent to around 68% of the annual target, compared to US$ 339.3 billion (Rs. 28.18 trillion) in the corresponding period of the previous year.
