In January, the coal production in India experienced a notable increase of 10.3%, reaching 99.73 Million tonnes (MT) compared to the corresponding period in the previous fiscal year when it stood at 90.42 MT. The coal ministry's statement revealed that during the April-January period, the overall coal production reached 784.11 MT (Provisional), exhibiting growth from 698.99 MT recorded in the same period of 2022-23.
Additionally, coal dispatches in January saw an uptick, reaching 87.37 MT as opposed to 82.02 MT in the corresponding month of the previous fiscal year. The statement highlighted that as of January 31, coal companies held a stockpile of 70.37 MT, indicating an impressive annual growth rate of 47.85%. Simultaneously, the coal stock at Thermal Power Plants (TPP), specifically at the designated DCB (Domestic Coal Based) location, witnessed a significant increase to 36.16 MT on the same date, reflecting an annual growth rate of 15.26%.
