India's engineering exports increased 21% year-on-year to Rs. 1.10 lakh crore (US$ 11.48 billion) in June 2026, driven by strong demand from key markets including China, the United States, Germany and Oman, according to EEPC India. The robust performance came despite shipping disruptions in the Red Sea and the Strait of Hormuz, which raised freight, insurance and transit costs for exporters. Engineering exports have now remained above Rs. 95,940 crore (US$ 10 billion) for three consecutive months, highlighting the sector's resilience amid global trade uncertainties. During April-June FY27, engineering exports rose 18.09% year-on-year to Rs. 3.28 lakh crore (US$ 34.14 billion) from Rs. 2.77 lakh crore (US$ 31.34 billion) in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal. Engineering products accounted for 28.4% of India's total merchandise exports in June.

China recorded the fastest growth among major destinations, with India's engineering exports to the country rising 74% year-on-year to Rs. 3,467.55 crore (US$ 361.47 million) in June. The United States remained the largest export market, with shipments valued at Rs. 18,708.30 crore (US$ 1.95 billion), while exports to Oman more than quadrupled to nearly Rs. 2,484.85 crore (US$ 259 million). EEPC India Chairman Mr. Pankaj Chadha noted that the sector has remained resilient despite disruptions to global trade flows and emphasised the importance of continued government support to sustain export momentum. Out of 34 engineering product categories, 27 registered year-on-year export growth during June, reinforcing the sector's role as a key contributor to India's merchandise exports and strengthening the country's position in global manufacturing and engineering trade.
