India’s G20 Presidency a “mega national event”: Harsh Vardhan Shringla

India assumed the G20 presidency on December 1, 2022, which Harsh Shringla stated as a “mega national event” which marks a monumental opportunity for India to showcase its rich cultural heritage, diversity and economic and developmental potential. At the G20 University Connect- Engaging Young Minds event held at Sushma Swaraj Bhawan, New Delhi, Harsh Shringla also emphasised the responsibilities associated with this presidency, in tandem with the opportunities.

This event was attended by students and academicians from 75 universities across the country in virtual mode. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also posted a blog which highlighted the agenda for the Group of Twenty (G20), which is, inclusive, ambitious and action-oriented. PM Modi stated that the priorities ascertained would be undertaken with prior consultations with G20 partners and the Global South. Furthermore, PM Modi underscored that contemporary issues such as climate change, terrorism and pandemics can be resolved by acting together. The motto of India’s G20 Presidency, as stated by PM Modi would be that of “healing, harmony and hope”.

India is scheduled to host approximately 200 meetings in 32 sectors across varied locations in India. Citing India’s theme ‘One Earth, One Family, One Future’, PM Modi also asserted that the idea is to promote a universal sense of oneness in congruence with India’s G20 Presidency.
