India's gem and jewellery exports recorded strong growth in June 2026, reflecting improving global demand and enhanced export competitiveness. According to the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), gross exports increased 26.51% year-on-year to Rs. 20,774 crore (US$ 2.21 billion) during the month. The growth was driven by robust demand across key international markets, supported by a 10.28% month-on-month decline in global gold prices, which reduced raw material costs and enabled Indian exporters to offer more competitive pricing. The positive performance highlights the resilience of India's gem and jewellery sector and reinforces its position as one of the world's leading suppliers of jewellery and precious stones.

Gold jewellery emerged as the strongest-performing segment, with exports rising 54.50% year-on-year to Rs. 10,246 crore (US$ 1.09 billion), while studded gold jewellery exports surged 85.35%. Cut and polished diamond exports increased 8.71%, platinum jewellery exports grew 34.77%, and polished lab-grown diamond exports recorded an impressive 52.25% rise during June 2026. Although exports of silver jewellery and coloured gemstones declined, the sector maintained overall momentum, with April-June 2026 exports remaining stable at Rs. 62,134 crore (US$ 6.61 billion). Continued recovery in global demand, favourable commodity prices and India's strong manufacturing capabilities is expected to support export growth, strengthen the country's position in global jewellery trade and generate greater opportunities for manufacturers, exporters and skilled artisans.
