India's Goods and Services Tax (GST) collections hit all-time high of Rs. 22,08,000 crore (US$ 257 billion) in FY25, a 9.4% growth YoY — Details here

India's gross Goods and Services Tax (GST) collection for FY25 reached an all-time high of Rs. 22,08,000 crore (US$ 257 billion), registering a 9.4% YoY growth, according to an official announcement on June 30, 2025. The average monthly GST collection stood at Rs. 1,84,000 crore (US$ 21.44 billion). Notably, the gross GST collections have doubled in five years from Rs. 11,37,000 crore (US$ 132.5 billion) in FY21, when the average monthly collection was Rs. 95,000 crore (US$ 11.07 billion).
As of April 30, 2025, India had more than 1.51 crore active GST registrations, including 1.32 crore normal taxpayers, 14.86 lakh composition taxpayers, and 3.71 lakh Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) accounts. GST collections have shown consistent annual growth, rising to Rs. 14,83,000 crore (US$ 172.82 billion) in FY22, Rs. 18,08,000 crore (US$ 210 billion) in FY23, and Rs. 20,18,000 crore (US$ 235 billion) in FY24. In May 2025 alone, GST collections grew 16.4% to Rs. 2,01,000 crore (US$ 23.42 billion). Of this, Rs. 1,50,000 crore (US$ 17.48 billion) came from domestic transactions, up 13.7%, and Rs. 51,266 crore (US$ 5.97 billion) from imports, up 25.2%. Central GST stood at Rs. 35,434 crore (US$ 4.13 billion), State GST at Rs. 43,902 crore (US$ 5.12 billion), and Integrated GST at Rs. 1,09,000 crore (US$ 12.70 billion). However, GST refunds for the month declined 4% to Rs. 27,210 crore (US$ 3.17 billion).
